Drama at the racetrack refers to what I have seen in practice as a horse vet. I have a huge respect for horses, knowing it’s not always rainbows and butterflies.
It also refers to my huge struggle I had with this Zorn palette. In the beginning I only could find shit colours (like literally), until I started to ask myself: ‘who is telling me I should search for colours, like every one else is doing.’ I am so used to paint with my 2 toned palette. I never paint green grass and a blue sky, so what the hell am I struggling with. And then suddenly I started to like this painting.
The Zorn palette refers to a palette of colours attributed to the great Swedish artist, Anders Zorn (1860 – 1920). It consists of just 4 colours namely yellow ochre, ivory black, vermillion and titanium white.
